Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Feed ingredient offers ended the reporting week on
Tuesday, December 28, steady to higher compared to last Tuesday's offers. Offers for
soybean meal, canola meal, corn and wheat millrun moved higher, while barley, whole
cottonseed, distillers dried grain and suncured alfalfa pellet offers were steady to
higher. Meat and bone meal offers trended mixed.
Oilseed Meal Markets: Offers for 47 percent protein Soybean Meal, for current rail
delivery, were 397.60 to 407.60 per ton, 14.00 to 15.00 per ton higher than last week's
offers. Basis offers were 29.00 to 38.00 over the Chicago January soybean meal futures
close of 368.60, and 30.00 to 35.00 per ton over the March futures close of 372.60.
This compared to last Tuesday's basis of 31.00 to 40.00 over the Chicago January soybean
meal futures close of 352.60 and 30.00 to 35.00 over the Chicago March soybean meal
futures close of 356.40. Offers for soybean meal truck delivered to the Willamette
Valley were not available. Offers for nearby rail delivered Canola Meal, 34 to 36
percent protein, were 276.60 to 288.60 per ton, 16.20 to 20.00 per ton higher than last
Tuesday's offers. Truck delivered Canola Meal offers, 34 to 36 percent protein, were
not available.
Whole Cottonseed: Whole Cottonseed offers for delivery to points in the Pacific
Northwest from the Midsouth in single boxcars were 315.00 to 325.00, steady to 5.00 per
ton higher compared to week ago offers. Offers for whole cottonseed trans-loaded onto
trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were 5.00 per ton higher than week ago
offers at 325.00 to 340.00.
Animal Proteins: Offers for 46 to 50 percent protein Meat and Bone Meal, FOB Seattle
plants, were steady with week ago offers of 320.00. Offers for meat and bone meal truck
delivered to Portland and the Willamette Valley were 300.00 to 328.00, mixed, from 10.00
lower to 3.00 higher compared to last week's offers.
Wheat Millrun: Feed mill offers for wheat millrun for nearby delivery, loaded truck
FOB the flour mill in Portland, were nominal at 158.00, 3.00 higher compared to week ago
offers. Offers for wheat millrun truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were also
3.00 higher than week ago offers at 170.00. Flour mill offers for wheat millrun rail
delivered to Portland on the Burlington Northern Line from eastern Washington and
eastern Oregon were 150.00 to 160.00 for December through March delivery, which is
steady with last week's offer for the same delivery period. Offers for wheat millrun
FOB eastern Oregon and eastern Washington for December through March delivery were
140.00, steady compared to week ago offers, and for April through September delivery
were 130.00, also steady.
Alfalfa Products: Offers for Suncured Alfalfa Pellets, 15 percent protein, delivered
by truck to the Willamette Valley were 210.00, steady to 5.00 per ton higher compared to
week ago offers.
Distillers Dried Grains: Offers for Distillers Dried Grains delivered by rail to
feed mills in the Pacific Northwest were 215.00 to 228.00, steady to 4.00 per ton higher
compared to week ago offers. Offers for distillers dried grains trans-loaded onto
trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were steady to 6.00 per ton higher at
230.00 to 245.00.
Coarse Feeding Grains: Offers for US 2 Barley for nearby delivery to Portland in
single rail cars for domestic use were not well tested, but were indicated as 220.00 to
225.00 per ton, steady with a week ago offers. Offers for US 2 Barley rail and truck
delivered to the Willamette Valley were also not well tested, but were indicated as
230.00 per ton, steady to 10.00 higher compared to last week's offers. US 2 Yellow Corn
offers for rail delivery to points north of Seattle were 7.50 per ton higher at 256.50
to 256.75. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to points in the Seattle area
were also 7.50 per ton higher, from 253.00 to 254.25. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail
delivered to Portland were 6.00 to 7.50 per ton higher at 251.75 to 252.50. Offers for
US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were indicated as 265.00 to
272.50, 9.25 to 17.00 per ton higher compared to last Tuesday's offers. US 2 Yellow
Corn offers for truck delivery to the Yakima Valley were 9.25 to 10.00 per ton higher
compared to last week's offers at 245.50 to 261.75. Chicago March corn futures closed
at 6.23-1/4, 21 cents higher than last Tuesday's March corn futures close of 6.02-1/4.
Offers for US 2 Heavy White Oats were not quoted in a very limited test.
