Pacific Northwest Weekly Grain Summary
Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Cash wheat bids for November
delivery ended the reporting week on Thursday, November 7, mixed. Bids
for soft white wheat and dark northern spring wheat were lower, while
bids for hard red winter wheat were not available.
December wheat futures ended the reporting week on Thursday,
November 7, lower as follows compared to last Thursday's closes:
Chicago 14.50 cents lower at 6.53, Kansas City 28 cents lower at 7.1250
and Minneapolis wheat futures trended 20.75 cents lower at 7.0950.
Chicago December corn futures trended 7.75 cents lower at 4.2050 while
November soybean futures closed 1.50 cents lower at 12.7875.
Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat delivered to Portland in unit trains
or barges during November were 9.50 to 14.50 cents per bushel lower
than last Thursday's bids for the same delivery period. Several
exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.
Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for
November delivery were not available as most exporters were not issuing
bids for nearby delivery. On Thursday, bids were as follows: November
not available, December 8.0725-8.1525, January 8.1025-8.2025, February
8.1525-8.2325 and March 8.1525-8.2525.
Bids for non-guaranteed 14.0 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern
Spring Wheat for November Portland delivery trended 20.75 cents per
bushel lower than week ago bids for the same delivery period. Some
exporters were not issuing bids for November delivery. On Thursday,
bids for non-guaranteed 14 percent protein were as follows: November
8.0950-8.2950, mostly 8.2350; December 8.2950-8.3950; January and
February 8.4525-8.5025; and March 8.4525-8.5525.
There were 20 grain vessels in Columbia River ports on Thursday,
November 7, with six docked compared to 15 last Thursday with five
docked. There were no new confirmed export sales this week.
