Pacific Northwest Add Weekly Grain Summary
Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat,
delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the
reporting week on Thursday, January 24, as 8.50-8.6850, mostly 8.59, steady to
2.75 cents per bushel lower compared to last Thursday's bids for January delivery
of 8.50-8.7125, mostly 8.6325. There were no white club wheat premiums for
nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for US 1 Soft
White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were 6.50-6.55, mostly
6.55. Nearby bids for US 1 Soft White wheat began the holiday shortened
reporting week on Friday at the weekly high of mostly 8.6950 before dropping to
mostly 8.6275 on Tuesday and continuing to mostly 8.5975 on Wednesday. Today
(Thursday), the end of the reporting week bids moved slightly lower to mostly
8.59. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan.
Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February 8.65-8.70,
March 8.6850-8.80, April 8.72-8.82, May 8.72-8.84 and August New Crop 7.9250-
8.1750. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows:
February 6.30-6.60, March 6.50-6.60, April and May 6.52-6.60 and August New Crop
6.50-6.55.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat and barley export sales as of January 17, 2013
for the marketing year will not be available until Friday January 25 due to the
Federal holiday.
Coarse feeding grains: Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in
single rail cars were 302.50-303.25, narrowly mixed, from 25 cents lower to 25
cents per ton higher than last Thursday's bids of 302.25-303.50. Bids for US 2
Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington,
and Hermiston, Oregon were 296.75-307.25, mixed, from 25 cents lower to 75 cents
per ton higher than last Thursday's bids of 297.00-306.50. Bids for US 2 Heavy
White Oats for January delivery held steady with last Thursday's noon bids at
270.00.
