Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White
Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during March ended
the reporting week on Thursday, March 27, at 7.85-7.8550, mostly 7.8525.
Bids were 6.75 to 30.00 cents per bushel higher than last Thursday's bids
for March delivery of 7.55-7.5785, mostly 7.67. White club wheat premiums
for this week and last week were 50 cents per bushel over soft white wheat
bids. One year ago bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for
March delivery were 8.45-8.5675, mostly 8.5225. Nearby bids for US 1 Soft
White wheat began the reporting week on Friday at the weekly low of mostly
7.6175 then rose to mostly 7.6725 on Monday, continuing to mostly 7.7425 on
Tuesday before moving slightly lower to mostly 7.7350 on Wednesday. Today
(Thursday), bids jumped higher to the weekly high of mostly 7.8525. Several
exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new
confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for
soft white wheat were as follows: April 7.85-8.1050, May 7.85-7.9550, June
7.7950-7.8450 and August New Crop 7.5225-7.5725. One year ago, forward
month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April 8.53-8.5675, May
8.45-8.5675, June 8.48-8.55 and August New Crop 7.65-7.8250.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of March 20, 2014 for the
marketing year beginning June 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014, totaled
1037.0 thousand MT compared to 1087.7 thousand MT on March 13, 2014, and
675.6 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for
the 2013-2014 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT:
Japan 286.1, South Korea 130.3, Philippines 116.3, Yemen 100.0, Thailand
68.0, Indonesia 40.0, Guatemala 37.8, Taiwan 24.0, Columbia 20.0, Malaysia
12.5, Vietnam 8.5, Nigeria 7.1, China 2.0, Mexico 1.4, Burma 1.0, Canada
0.7, Hong Kong 0.3 and total unknown 181.0. Accumulated white wheat export
shipments as of March 20, 2014, in 1000 MT for the 2013-2014 marketing year,
totaled 3273.0 compared to 3844.9 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of March 20, 2014 for the
marketing year beginning June 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT,
totaled 42.9 compared to 43.2 on March 13, 2014 and 1.9 one year ago.
Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-2014 marketing year in 1000 MT
were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 35.8, South Korea 6.6 and
Taiwan 0.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of March 20, 2014 were
135.2 thousand MT compared to 131.2 one year ago.
Coarse feeding grains: Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland
in single rail cars were not available. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn truck
delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington, and Hermiston,
Oregon were also not available. Bids for US 2 Heavy White Oats for March
delivery were 270.00, steady with last Thursday's noon bids.
