Pacific Northwest Add Weekly Grain Summary
Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat,
delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during February ended the
reporting week on Thursday, February 14, at 8.50-8.75 mostly 8.6350, three to
four cents per bushel higher compared to last Thursday's noon bids of 8.47-8.71
mostly 8.5975. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for
this week or last week. One year ago bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat and white
club wheat for February delivery were 7.00-7.15, mostly 7.10. Nearby bids for US
1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on Friday at mostly 8.6250 then moved
lower to mostly 8.57 on Monday and continued lower to mostly 8.4725 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, bids were higher at mostly 8.5850. Today (Thursday), the end of
the reporting week bids jumped higher to mostly 8.6350. New confirmed export
sales of white wheat this week were to South Korea. Forward month bids for soft
white wheat were as follows: March 8.50-8.75, April 8.65-8.80, May 8.70-8.80 and
August New Crop 7.6350-7.9850. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white
wheat were as follows: March and April 7.05-7.15, May 7.00-7.15, June 6.70-6.85
and August New Crop 6.65-6.70.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of February 7, 2013 for the
marketing year beginning June 1, 2012 and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 972.3
thousand MT compared to 993.7 thousand MT on January 31, 2012, and 1774.6
thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-2013
marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 223.0, South
Korea 145.4, Philippines 131.5, China (Main) 55.5, Egypt 55.0, Thailand 38.0,
Nigeria 30.4, Taiwan 23.1, Burma 4.0, Malaysia 3.5, Canada 1.4, Mexico 0.9, Hong
Kong 0.8, Vietnam 0.5 and total unknown 249.3. Accumulated white wheat export
shipments as of February 7, 2013, in 1000 MT for the 2012-2013 marketing year,
totaled 3267.1 compared to 3490.1 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of February 7, 2013 for the marketing
year beginning June 1, 2012 and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 1.9
compared to 1.8 on January 31, 2012 and 0.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley
export sales for the 2012-2013 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following
countries in 1000 MT: Japan 0.8, Taiwan 0.6 and South Korea 0.5. Accumulated
barley export shipments as of February 7, 2013 were 121.0 thousand MT compared to
82.6 one year ago.
Coarse feeding grains: Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in
single rail cars were 290.25-290.50, 6.00 to 8.00 per ton lower than last
Thursday's bids of 296.25-298.50. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to
the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington, and Hermiston, Oregon were
287.50-297.00, 5.50 to 5.75 per ton lower than last Thursday's bids of 293.00-
302.75. Lower Chicago March corn futures pressured corn cash bids. Bids for US
2 Heavy White Oats for February delivery held steady with last Thursday's noon
bids at 270.00.
