Pacific Northwest Add Weekly Grain Summary
Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat,
delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during February ended the
reporting week on Thursday, February 21, at 8.48-8.6125 mostly 8.5350, 2.00 to
13.75 cents per bushel lower compared to last Thursday's noon bids of 8.50-8.75
mostly 8.6350. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for
this week or last week. One year ago bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat and white
club wheat for February delivery were 6.85-7.10, mostly 7.00. Nearby bids for US
1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on Friday at mostly 8.7075 then moved
lower to mostly 8.6425 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, bids moved higher to mostly
8.6825. Today (Thursday), the end of the reporting week bids moved to the weekly
low of mostly 8.5350. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat
this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March
8.5625-8.6125, April 8.54-8.75, May 8.49-8.75 and August New Crop 7.6650-7.7650.
One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March
6.85-7.10, April 6.95-7.10, May 6.90-7.10, June 6.50-6.95 and August New Crop
6.55-6.70.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat and barley export sales as of February 14, 2013
will not be available until Friday, February 22 due to the Federal holiday.
Coarse feeding grains: Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in
single rail cars were 288.75-291.25, mixed, from 1.50 per ton lower to 75 cents
per ton higher than last Thursday's bids of 290.25-290.50. Bids for US 2 Yellow
Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington, and
Hermiston, Oregon were 286.00-295.00, 1.50 to 2.00 per ton lower than last
Thursday's bids of 287.50-297.00. Lower Chicago March corn futures pressured
corn cash bids. Bids for US 2 Heavy White Oats for February delivery held steady
with last Thursday's noon bids at 270.00.
