What might be a cause for an open house with neighbors in the U.S., is under protest in France. A new 1,000 cow farm opened in Northern France, at Drucat in Picardie, about a two-hour drive north of Paris near Belgium. Instead of welcoming the farm to the neighborhood, protestors were blockading trucks, but not employees, demanding that the farm stop at 500 cows.
But it isn’t animal rights activists who started the protests, at the farm called "Ferme des 1000 vaches,” or “Farm of 1000 cows,” but rather 40 farmers affiliated with Confédération Paysanne farmers union. As you can see in the video, it appears protestors let air out of tires, sprayed paint on equipment, and brought the farm to a standstill in mid-September.
As of late September, we have not seen any updates whether the farm was able to begin operations or not.
