Were you surprised to learn that 3 percent of the dairies in this country produce 50 percent of the milk supply (see news story at left)?

I new that the larger herds were producing a larger per cent of the U.S. milk but I did not know that it had reach 50%.
We will see more consolidation especially if we see anothe ryear of depressed prices and high feed costs.
Gov't regulation on manure storage and application will also drive the small dairies out. They don't want to invest in storage facilities and have the time required to do the PAPER WORK !
