Poll: Do you agree with USDA’s 850-calorie limit on school meals?
Kids need more calories than this. They cannot get good brain function or
development on salad. They need EFA's and VFA's and more protein! I bet after all
this, they will still be able to get Coke Zero from the vending machine? Because it has
zero calories it must have nutritive value? Really? USDA - you are morons.
Is the limit per meal or per day? If its per meal, then this is a great thing. If its per day, then it seems too low. Either way, get the crappy food out and provide nutritious real non-processed food and for the love of life get the sodas out!!!
Many students do not have adequate food in their homes for the rest of the day. School food is the majority of their dietary intake for the day.
