Basic principles of the increasingly popular positive-pressure, tube ventilation systems for calf barns will be addressed at an upcoming seminar by The Dairyland Initiative. The one-day event will take place Thursday, November 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Madison, Wis.
University of Wisconsin professor Ken Nordlund will discuss static pressure; uniform air discharge along the length of the tube; and estimating throw distance of air from the tube to deliver appropriate volumes of fresh air to calves without creating drafts.
The hands-on workshop also will include instructions on The Dairyland Initiative’s Positive Pressure Ventilation Tube Calculator to create specifications for example barns.
