Chocolate milk fuels March Madness team

Chocolate milk may be the secret to the University of Michigan’s basketball team as they fight their way through the NCAA tournament.

The Wall Street Journal reports in an article here the Wolverines have an unlikely fuel powering their wins: chocolate milk.

Michigan men's basketball strength coach Jon Sanderson told reports that both the men’s and women’s basketball teams guzzle five gallons of chocolate milk each week. Sanderson has been supplying athletes with chocolate milk for several years, even before the school struck a deal this season with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan.

"Who doesn't like chocolate milk?" Sanderson said.

This isn’t the first time chocolate milk mustaches have been found on athletes. Experts at Baylor College of Medicine found that people who consume chocolate milk after a workout had a better workout the next day when compared to those who turned to traditional post-exercise drinks.

The beverage has also help runners go the distance and endorsed by at least one Olympian.
