Participants can save $25 on registration for the National Institute for Animal Agriculture’s (NIAA) annual conference by registering prior to Monday, March 3. The conference, titled “The Precautionary Principle: How Animal Agriculture Will Thrive?” will take place March 31- April 2, 2014 in Omaha, Neb., and will examine the policies and strategies that will dictate how innovative and competitive U.S. agriculture will be in the global marketplace today, tomorrow and beyond.

The “Precautionary Principle” is being utilized as a stratagem to cope with possible risks where scientific understanding is yet incomplete and make regulatory decisions. The effects of it will be one focus of the Annual Conference. Sometimes thought of as the most innovative, pervasive, and significant new environmental concept in the last 25 years, is it truly better to be safe than sorry or is it a politically charged over-simplification blocking innovation?

In conjunction with the conference, NIAA and U.S. Animal Health Association (USAHA) are partnering to provide the beef industry with a one-day “Joint Forum on Trichomoniasis Standards” on Thursday, April 3, in Omaha, Neb. The Forum will give state veterinarians, animal health officials, laboratory personnel, beef industry leaders and other interested individuals the opportunity to interact and discuss challenges and identify solutions regarding more standardization of rules and testing procedures intended to prevent the introduction of trich into beef herds.

Visit the NIAA website at AnimalAgriculture.org to learn more and register for the annual conference and trichomoniasis forum.
