A third installment in the “Tool Box for Udder Health” weekly series is available at the University of Wisconsin Milk Quality website.

In “week THREE: Evaluation of Bovine Teat Condition in Commercial Dairy Herds: 1. Non-Infectious Factors,” milk-quality experts dive into the subject of maintaining healthy teat skin and teat-ends.

The purpose of the installment is to:
1) review non-infectious factors affecting short- or medium-term changes in teats
2) propose a simple protocol for systematic evaluation of teats in commercial dairies
3) propose guidelines for interpretation of these observations.
