Get the latest information about how to better implement your nutrient management plan during a free Webinar on June 24 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

A nutrient management plan (NMP) must be fully implemented by regulated animal feeding operations (AFOs) to qualify for the agricultural storm water exemption when applying animal waste to land. Both regulated and non-regulated AFOs should implement a NMP to protect water quality and improve farm management, productivity and profitability.

This Webinar will cover three topics to help you understand how terms of concentrated animal feeding operations discharge/operating permits relate back to the NMP, and how the plan implementation can be improved and better documented.

The topics include:

  1. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency nutrient management plan permit terms.
  2. Perspectives from an extension educator, a professional nutrient management planner and a farmer on how to better implement a plan.
  3. Improved record keeping.

Shawn Hawkins, animal waste specialist at the University of Tennessee, will moderate the webcast. The presenters are: Caitlin Conover, United States Environmental Protection Agency; Kevin Erb, conservation professional development and training coordinator for University of Wisconsin extension; Rachel Mueller, certified crop advisor and owner of Cornerstone Crop Consulting, LLC of Princeton, Wis. and Melony Wilson, animal waste specialist for the University of Georgia.
