Make the most of far-off and transition-cow management

A successful lactation starts well before calving. In fact, a cow’s previous lactation and entry into the far-off dry-cow pen, as well as how she is managed and fed before she approaches calving, all contribute to the likelihood of her achieving a high level of milk production and conceiving in a timely manner.

In an eXtension webinar on March 18, Dr. Mike Overton of Elanco will discuss opportunities and challenges in the far-off, close-up, and fresh pens, including nutritional and housing management. He also will discuss a few key monitoring approaches for evaluating performance.

The webinar takes place from noon to 1:00 p.m. (Central Time).

Registration for the “Far Off to Fresh Cow – Opportunities to Improve Transition Performance” webinar can be found here.
