Hard times are back for the National Agriculture Center and Hall of Fame.

Amid financial turmoil and an uncertain future, the center is closing for the 2014 season to regroup and consider its future. It is located in Bonner Springs, Kan., not far from the Kansas Speedway.

In a special announced from the Board of Directors, Jody Albers, President of the Board of Directors, re-affirms that the move is temporary as “it manages through some short-term thinking on its long-term plans.”

"Our balance sheet is strong, and our board of directors and partners are committed to a bright future", explained Albers in a news release. Event and daily attendance have grown substantially over the last several years. Our previous staff and leadership have done a tremendous job, but without continued private funding we have had to make a tough decision. The National Agricultural Center & Hall of Fame will be completely reimagined in the months ahead.”

The center aims to re-open next year.

While closed the general public, numerous events are still booked at the center, including the Tractor Daze and Touch-a-Truck Swap Meet & Mud Run.

According to The Kansas City Star, this is the second time in five years leaders have temporarily shut the center’s doors to the public. Click here for more.
