In this issue Sam Leadley, calf management specialist with Attica (N.Y.) Veterinary Associates, looks at the question: "Why do Bad Things (Sick, Dead Calves) Happen to Good People (Us)?"

To answer that question, Leadley says it is important to consider variation in raw product, environmental factors, complexity of calf biology and protocol compliance.
