Proper growth of dairy heifers from weaning until six to eight months of age directly impacts economics of heifer-rearing programs and future milk production.

“Recently, I have been asked the question, ‘My heifers just do not grow well after weaning, what are some areas I should look at to correct this problem?’” says Donna Amaral-Phillips with the University of Kentucky. “I thought it would be good to review some key management areas which effect growth of heifers after weaning.”

Amaral-Phillips does just that in an article in the current issue of Kentucky Dairy Notes.
