Calculate cold-weather energy needs

There are still several weeks of chilly winter weather left. Don’t leave your calves with inadequate energy reserves. A spreadsheet that calculates calf energy needs in cold weather has been recently updated.

The spreadsheet allows you to calculate how much additional milk replacer or whole milk to feed calves, using the 2001 dairy NRC guidelines. Different calculations are available for calves based on age.
