Dust off your colostrum protocols

The New Year is a good time to dust off your colostrum protocols and set your newborn calves up for a great start, says Sarah Morrison with the William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute in Chazy, N.Y.

In the January 2013 issue of the Miner Farm Report, Morrison outlines several colostrum management control points from Dr. Sandra Godden with the University of Minnesota.

In particular, she looks at: Situations when colostrum may be of poorer quality, how to collect and handle colostrum in a clean manner, proper colostrum storage, and measuring success of your colostrum management protocols.
