DCHA conference to offer breakout sessions in Spanish

Three breakout sessions at the 2012 Dairy Calf & Heifer Association Conference, March 20-21, in Visalia, Calif., will be presented in Spanish. The sessions include “Leading Fellow Workers,” “Managing Lameness in Dairy Heifers,” and “Euthanasia Techniques for Calves and Heifers.”

Tom Fuhrmann, veterinarian and owner of DairyWorks, will present the "Leading Fellow Workers” breakout session. This session will identify the natural leadership characteristics that you should possess and develop to help yourself and fellow workers succeed.

Jan Shearer, extension veterinarian at Iowa State University, will present “Managing Lameness in Dairy Heifers” in English and Spanish. The session will focus on ways to manage lameness on calf and heifer operations.

Shearer also will present “Euthanasia Techniques for Calves and Heifers” in English and Spanish. This presentation will discuss the three humane euthanasia methods currently recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association and DCHA.
