A new calf health fact sheet is available from the University of Kentucky Dairy Extension Team. The document, authored by dairy extension professor Donna Amaral-Phillips, looks at critical control points for colostrum management and a detailed two-step process for identifying potentially sick calves.

The document also includes charts that detail the vital signs or physical measurements to assess in a calf, as well as electrolytes for scouring calves and a check sheet that identifies some of the areas to review on a regular basis to help prevent illnesses in calves.
