Penn State calf workshop scheduled

The Penn State Extension Dairy Team is hosting a calf health and management workshop for dairy producers and their employees in January. The program will focus on calf care for animals from birth through 6 months of age. Here is a list of topics that will be discussed during the workshop:

• Colostrum management
• Calf health
• Vaccines for calves and younger heifers
• Calf and weaned-calf housing
• Calf and weaned-calf nutrition
• Animal well-being issues

The workshop will be offered on two separate dates: Jan. 24 in Rockwood, Pa., and Jan. 31 in Martinsburg, Pa. Each session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The registration fee is $25.00.
