Strong demand for springer heifers has pushed prices higher in most recent auctions. Several market reports commented on the improved demand. The high end of the range of top end springing heifers in Turlock, Calif., and Stratford, Wis., were $1,625-$1,650, up $200-$250 from last month. However, heifer calf prices have slipped recently. Calf prices topped out $130 in Wisconsin in most recent auctions compared to $150 last month, reports Greg Scheer, dairy analyst with Doane Advisory Services in St. Louis, Mo.
