New research from the Center for Proper Housing of Ruminants and Pigs in Switzerland and the Department of Behavioral Biology in Germany indicate there are benefits to introducing pairs of heifers into cow pens. Moving heifers as pairs may reduce the detrimental effects of co-mingling heifers and cows. These studies are discussed in the October issue of the Miner Institute’s Farm Report.
