Forage plays a pivotal role in animal diets.
A recent study looks at options for improving forage quality and yield in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The objective of the study was to determine a better performing legume-grass mixture for both dairy and beef animals.

"Since forage needs to be evaluated based on both yield and quality, alfalfa with either orchardgrass or tall fescue appears to make better legume-grass mixtures than other binary mixtures in the central U.P. region," Min says.
