Podcast offers advice on cow cooling

“Heat stress and cooling cows usually comes to mind in summer,” says Tamilee Nennich, extension dairy specialist at Purdue University. “However, with the unseasonably warm temperatures that have been occurring this spring, heat abatement for cows may be needed much earlier than in a typical year.”

In a new Purdue Dairy Digest podcast, Nennich highlights the importance of keeping cows cool, regardless of the season, and discusses management strategies to cool cows.

Make sure proper cooling methods are in place and being used when temperatures are conducive to heat stress.
