Pain management is an issue of increased concern in the dairy industry.
“In cattle, there are only a few studies of pain associated with the parturition process,” explains Heather Dann with the W.H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute in Chazy, N.Y.
In the latest issue of the Miner Farm Report, Dann discusses what factors affect the degree of pain caused by parturition, pain assessment and common signs associated with pain during calving. She also takes a look at what the research has to say about the impact of pain relief during and after parturition.
