Lancashire Telegraph reports the Northern England fast-food restaurant Yummy Yummy Italia offers a new controversial pizza topping inspired by some unique toppings in London.

Restaurant owner Arash Fard started to offer alternative meats from buffalo, venison, kangaroo and crocodile earlier this year. He buys the zebra meat from Kezie, an “alternative meats” supplier. Kezie says its meat is ethically sourced from responsible farms.

The unique meats are a hit for customers wanting to try something new, but some find it hard to believe they’re actually eating zebra. Fard reassures it’s legit.

The restaurant is receiving some criticism for the meat. Local wildlife campaigners say offering zebra is encouraging the destruction of rare wildlife.
