There’s no question that dairy farmers are dedicated to their careers, and now 100 dairy farms have been recognized by Minnesota’s Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson for their commitment to exceptional dairy cow care. Read the list of winners here. Farmers who made the list will receive a certificate of congratulations signed by Frederickson.
To determine how successful dairies were in caring for their cows, officials looked at the farm's somatic cell count records.
“These farmers do a great job following best-management practices in caring for their dairy cows and the result is high-quality milk with low somatic cell counts,” Frederickson said in a news release. “The Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the University of Minnesota have been working with the state’s dairy farmers for years to reduce somatic cell counts, and that long-term effort is paying off.”
