Genomic scan identifies QTL influencing female fertility

Danish and Swedish Holstein grandsire data was used to locate quantitative trait loci (QTL) involved with fertility traits. As many as 36 sires with over 2,000 sons were genotyped using single trait breeding values relating to fertility traits and reproductive disorders. Results were published in the May 2009 Journal of Dairy Science

Twenty-six QTL were detected on 17 different chromosomes. Several QTL were detected affecting more than one of the fertility traits. Read more.
