Do you have a smartphone and or tablet? There are thousands of apps out there for them and sometimes it’s hard to sort through them all and figure out which ones perform well and can actually help you. Here are four apps, all available for iPhone or Android, that some of my tech-savvy farmer friends recommend:
- Team Viewer. This app allows you to access your home or work computers from your from your phone. You can remotely access your files, run programs and control your computer from anywhere. To get started, simply create an account and install the program on any computer you want to be able to access. There is a similar program called LogMeIn that is very similar and allows you to remote access from a web browser. Give both a try and see which suits you better.
- Evernote. This organizational app helps you remember everything. Evernote lets you take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, save web links, record voice reminders and makes these notes completely searchable. You can also synch all your notes across all of the computers and devices you use.
- Google calendar. An internet-based calendar, therefore it is always synched regardless if you update or check it from a computer or mobile device.
- Dropbox. This program allows you to access and share your documents, photos or videos from anywhere. After you install Dropbox on your computer, any file you save in your Dropbox will be accessible by phone, tablet and even the Dropbox web site for anyone who knows your account. This is a great way to share files with employees or consultants.
