A fatal truck crash over the weekend has opened a can of worms at a New York dairy regarding the legality of some of its workers.

In the accident Saturday night, a 33-year-old worker was killed and the driver of the pickup truck he was riding in has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The driver reportedly worked for Sheland Farms in Ellisburg, N.Y.  Read more from the Watertown Daily Times.

A sheriff’s detective says migrant workers presented I-9 documents to Sheland Farms that contained assumed names.

The driver is now being called an illegal alien. Another worker at the farm, who was not involved in the accident, has been taken into federal custody as an illegal immigrant, according to the Daily Times.
