Cosmetics may try to capture the anti-aging qualities of cheese

It’s called the “French paradox” ― low rates of cardiovascular mortality in France despite high saturated fat consumption.

It’s not just red wine that’s causing this; it is possible that cheese consumption may contribute to the phenomenon, as well, according to the December issue of Med Hypotheses. Click here for the abstract.

Certain types of molded, fermented cheese, such as Roquefort, may be better at accomplishing this than others. Anti-inflammatory factors found in these cheeses may slow the aging process. 

This, in turn, could lead to the development of a new generation of pharmaceuticals and future cosmetic products, says this article from Cosmetics Design.
