As part of its year-long celebration, Shatto released five other flavors but went the extra step to make the birthday anniversary special. The special edition flavor is expected to hit local grocery stores as early as Sept. 23.
The dairy isn’t stopping there. Twenty percent of proceeds from the Birthday Cake milk sales will go to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. Shatto is also sponsoring an anniversary gala to raise money for the charity.
“The KC community is lucky to have such a fine family dairy to call our own! And the milk (and ice cream) taste really good, too,” one fan wrote on Shatto's Facebook page.
“What an awesome partnership - I will definitely be buying the milk to support all involved,” another said.
Other flavors released this year included Blueberry, Chocolate Cherry, Mint Chocolate, Cookies and Cream and Apple Pie. Just five anniversary flavors were planned, but customer response has convinced the dairy to release two more limited-edition flavors coming later this year.
