Dairy farmers have one more thing to be happy about - McDonald's Happy Meals will soon have a Go-GURT yogurt option.

Beginning July 4, McDonald's will offer Yoplait Go-GURT in happy meals. Go-GURT is a General Mills product that combines convenience and healthy eating, as McDonald's continues to add lower calorie choices to its kid-friendly menu. In 2012, the option of apple slices lowered Happy Meals' calorie count about 20 percent, the company said.

The General Mills blog, taste, said that in test markets at Austin, Texas; Chicago, Ill.; and Springfield, Mass., 30 percent of customers chose Go-Gurt over apple slices. That was without any advertising for Go-GURT.
