August 2014 packaged fluid milk sales totaled 4.09 billion lbs., down 6.0% from August 2013.

The estimates represent fluid milk product sales in federal and California milk marketing orders, which account for approximately 92% of total U.S. fluid milk sales.

Monthly sales of conventional products, at 3.89 billion lbs., were down 6.5%; organic products, at 204 million lbs., were up 4.3% Organic represented about 5.0% of total sales for the month.

Year-to-date 2014 total packaged fluid milk sales, at 33.04 billion lbs., were down 3.0% from the same period a year earlier. January-August 2014 sales of conventional products, at 31.39 billion lbs., were down 3.6%; organic products, at 1.65 billion lbs., were up 10.7%. Organic represented about 5.0% of total sales.
