With an expanding dairy herd spurring demand, U.S. replacement dairy cow prices averaged $1,830/head in 2014, up $450 from 2013 and the highest annual average since 2008, according to USDA’s latest monthly Ag Prices report. Average prices peaked in October 2014, at $2,120/head.
