The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) released ethanol production data for the week ending Jan. 23:

Ethanol production: 41.1 million gallons/day. The four-week average for ethanol production calculates to an annualized rate of 14.89 billion gallons.

Corn used: 14.83 million bushels/day

DIstillers grains production: 97,306 metric tons/day

Regional distillers dried grain prices for Jan. 28, from the USDA Market News/National Feedstuffs Market Review. Prices are $/ton, and reflect changes from previous week.

Most states report lower unemployment rate

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest employment report indicates that unemployment rates were generally lower in December. Forty-six states and the District of Columbia saw the unemployment rate decrease from a year earlier. Increases were reported in two states, while two others had no change. The December national jobless rate declined to 5.6%, from 5.8% in November, and was 1.1% lower than one year earlier.

The December 2014 year-over-year comparison indicates nonfarm employment increased in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The largest year-over- year percentage increase occurred in North Dakota (up 5.4%), followed by Texas (up 4%) and Utah (up 3.9%).
