USDA released its monthly Dairy Products report on Jan. 6, summarizing November 2014 production estimates.

Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 949 million lbs., 2.9% more than November 2013, but 3.3% less than October 2014.

• Italian type cheese production totaled 410 million lbs., 5.1% more than November 2013, but 3.7% less than October 2014.

American type cheese production totaled 372 million lbs., 4.5% more than November 2013, but 2.9% less than October 2014.

Butter production was 136 million lbs., 4.7% less than November 2013 and 5.7% less than October 2014.

HighGround Dairy’s Eric Meyer called the report neutral for butter, but bearish for cheese, nonfat dry milk and whey.

FCStone’s Dave Kurawski called the report bullish for butter; neutral for cheese; and bearish for nonfat dry milk and whey.
