Fake ice cream?

Canadian dairy farmers are upset that some frozen desserts appear to be dairy-based when they really aren’t. Often, the frozen desserts made with edible oils, rather than milk or milk products, taste similar to ice cream.
“For us, real ice cream is made from cream or milk or milk products,” says Solange Heiss, assistant director of marketing and nutrition communications at Dairy Farmers of Canada.
The problem isn’t just confined to Canada. Recently, dairy officials in the United States expressed their concern about improperly labeled imitation dairy products. Read more.
