The Class III price sank below $10 for February.
According to the USDA’s announcement of class and component prices on Feb. 27, the February Class III price is $9.31 — a $1.47 loss from January and $7.72 less than a year ago. It also is the lowest Class III price in nearly six years and the third lowest Class III price since Federal Order Reform in 2000.
Although the $1.47 loss puts the Class III price below $10, the extent of the decline in February was not as harsh as the $4.50 loss between December and January.
Meanwhile, losses in the Class IV price were less severe, though it is still below $10. According to the announcement, the February Class IV price is $9.45, which is 14 cents less than January and $5.22 less than a year ago. It also set a new record low.
The February Class II price — the only one of the three prices to stay above $10 — was announced at $10.25. That is 16 cents less than January and $8.21 less than a year ago.
