Product Description: The McLanahan Bedding Dryer is the first system designed to quickly and efficiently reduce moisture and mastitis-causing pathogens in recycled sand or manure for improvements in milk quality, cow health and many other areas of the dairy operation. Field tests have shown the McLanahan Bedding Dryer reduces moisture content to just two percent for sand and 55 percent for manure. Drying rates are established based on the needs of each dairy operation. Less moisture means less opportunity for mastitis-causing organisms to survive. By dramatically reducing pathogens in recycled bedding, the technology helps dairy producers reduce somatic cell count, improve milk quality, reduce the incidence of mastitis, improve cow comfort and enhance sustainability. The McLanahan Bedding Dryer is designed for fast, easy installation with maximum thermal efficiency. A target exit temperature is established based on the specific bedding material, which is retained just long enough to achieve ideal pathogen kill. Outputs are monitored and adjusted automatically. The McLanahan Bedding Dryer dries quickly, processing up to 90 tons-per-hour for sand and 18 TPH for manure. This eliminates the need for moving, windrowing, stockpiling and air-drying bedding materials. For the first time, dairy producers can fully realize the economic and animal health benefits of recycling their bedding without the expense, labor, fuel or time requirements of mechanical conditioning. Other systems and protocols exist for reducing moisture in sand or manure bedding, but none perform quite like the new McLanahan Bedding Dryer. It’s a welcome addition in an industry increasingly dedicated to efficiency, sustainability and milk quality.
