Southern States Cooperative named 2014 Feed Mill of the Year

Southern States Cooperative of Park City, Ky., was named the 2014 Feed Mill of the Year for the second time in three years. Runner-up was Kent Nutrition Group, Hagerstown, Md.

The award is presented for overall excellence in feed manufacturing operations and is sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and Feedstuffs. AFIA is the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to representing the business, legislative and regulatory interests of the U.S. animal feed industry and its suppliers.

 

Companies support IFEEDER efforts

Three American Feed Industry Association member companies recently donated $225,000 to the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEDDER) to support research and education projects focused on meeting the challenges of sustainable feed and food production.

• Elanco – $125,000

• Micronutrients Zinpro Corporation – $50,000

• Zinpro Corporation – $50,000 during two separate ceremonies.

Sarbacker joins Vita Plus

Macy Sarbacker recently joined the Vita Plus staff as a marketing and communications specialist. Based in Madison, Wis., Sarbacker will provide marketing, branding and project management for events, training efforts, tradeshows and customer meetings. Additionally, she will provide editorial leadership in translating technical and product information into easily understood marketing materials, encompassing print, audio, video and web communication channels.

Ralco plans expansion

Ralco is planning  a significant capital investment into its feed mill capacities in Marshall, Minn. The investment will provide expanded production capacity, precision mixing capabilities and enhanced packaging equipment for its animal nutrition business. The project includes a new 30,000-foot distribution center, along with a feed mill expansion, allowing the company to centralize operations.
