Feed analysis reports often combine analytical values with calculated values. Examples of calculated values include energy, Relative Forage Quality, and fiber digestion rates. Have you ever looked at a feed analysis report and wondered how one of these calculated values is derived?
Cumberland Valley Analytical Services (CVAS) provides a reference on its Web site for many of the common calculations that are found on feed reports. Not only are equations listed along with interpretive material, but many are set up on spreadsheets that are downloadable. Click here to access this information.
CVAS also provides a live query function of its global database. More than 300,000 forages and feedstuffs can be summarized by feed type, date range, region of the country, dry matter range, and NDF range. Go to the CVAS Web site for more information.
