There’s more bad news for the nation’s dairy industry.

USDA reporting licensed dairy farm numbers declined by more than 2,700. It equals a drop of 6.8 percent.

There are now just over 37,000 licensed dairy farms in the country. That’s down from more than 40,000 last year. Wisconsin, which has the most dairy farms in the nation, also saw the biggest drop with 590,000 farms alone last year closing.

Just wondering what the final number will be after this year. In my local area 50% of dairies have already sold or have plans on selling out this year.
