A horrific barn fire that killed 114 cows in New York State last week appears to have been arson.
"Somebody intentionally set the fire," Investigator Gary Brown with the State Police Bureau of Crime Investigation told Dairy Herd Network on Tuesday.
"We have an indication that somebody parked on the side road," walked to the back of the barn and used an accelerant to start the fire, he said. It was snowing that night, so investigators could see the tracks that someone made in walking that distance.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
All 114 cows that were in the barn at the time of the fire died; the only animal that escaped was a dog that also happened to be in the barn.
The farm is located near the town of Bangor, N.Y.
