Springer Values Gaining Ground

Holstein heifer herd check. ( Taylor Leach )

Despite their roller-coaster ramblings, an uptick in milk prices seems to be fueling demand for Holstein springers. Turlock, Calif. saw springer prices in the last month reaching levels not seen for nearly three years. Holstein springer values doubled in some Wisconsin markets, recovering from dismal spring prices as low as $500 per head. Test remains light and values low for Holstein heifer calves. USDA has not reported market updates from New Holland Sales Stables in Pennsylvania since April 1 due to COVID-19.
