Prices for #1 Holstein springers haven't gone up much in the past month, but they haven't gone down, either.
Nationwide, replacement heifer prices are steady to a bit higher, still hovering at or slightly below the cost of production.
Holstein heifer calves, on the other hand, have taken a healthy upward bump this month, especially in Texas and Pennsylvania, where values nearly doubled. Both springer and calf prices are roughly on par with year-ago levels.
