Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year Named
A Springfield farm has been named Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year.
The award has been presented to Dolloff Acres Farm by the University of Vermont Extension and the Vermont Dairy Industry Association in cooperation with the New England Green Pastures Program.
Mike and Heidi Dolloff's operation milks 80 cows twice a day. The herd averages 24,000 pounds of milk with 4.3 percent butterfat and 3.2 percent protein, which officials say can be attributed to excellent herd management practices, quality feed and selective breeding.
The farm has earned numerous milk quality awards from the Dairy Farmers of America Cooperative and has received Vermont Dairy Herd Improvement Association awards for somatic cell counts in their milk and production.
